Short Biography:

Tamir Pardo was born in 1953 in Jerusalem. His father immigrated from Turkey. Pardo was a communications officer in "Sayeret Matkal", a unit serving on special missions in the Israel Defense Army, and participated in the "Entebe Raid" or "Mivtsa Yonatan" movement in 1976 to rescue 105 prisoners held in Uganda.


Pardo joined the Mossad in 1980. After undergoing a special education and training, he took on important duties. Between 1989 and 1993, he served as the commander of the Special Action Unit. Afterwards, he was assigned duties in the field of technology alongside Uzi Arad, head of IT security research at Mossad. Pardo participated in and led many operations. He was awarded the Israel Security Award (Prasey Bitahon Israel) three times during his tenure with the Mossad.


In 1998, he led the commission in the interrogation of the failed assassination attempt against Hamas leader Khaled Mashal. He was appointed head of the electronic intelligence department, also known as "Keşet". It enabled access to confidential information through the use of secret listening devices in many countries.


In 2002, after Meir Dagan was appointed as the head of the Mossad, Tamir Pardo was appointed as the vice president. He was appointed as a guide to the National Security unit with the rank of Tat-Aluf (Tug General) in Tsahal ((DF) and then as a consultant in operations in the North of Israel in Tsahal in 2006. General Tal Russo's role in the movement against Hezbollah in the Second Lebanon War. In 2007, he returned to the position of assistant to Meir Dagan in Mossad and remained in this position until 2009.


Tamir Pardo was the Head of Mossad between January 2011 and January 2016. In his period, as in the previous period, Mossad focused especially on the Iranian nuclear reactors.

After leaving his job, he took part in XM Cyber company, which develops protection systems against cyber attacks, and founded OSEG Investment company with Asaf Shlagi, he assumed the chairmanship of the board of trustees of the CLP-OSEG fund operating in the field of green energy.

Outstanding and Permanent Contribution / Reasons for Selection: Tamir Pardo, who is the son of a family from Turkey by his father, was nominated as a candidate because he was the head of the Mossad, one of the most important institutions in terms of security, and he had undertaken many important duties for the security of the country.
